When operating your vehicle at night, it can be hard to see and use your electronic logging device ELD. This is mainly due to the sharp brightness of the ELD device’s screen. With ELDs becoming mandatory for all truck drivers to use, you have to log your Hours of Service (HOS) no matter what time of the day it is. It is more important than ever to maintain an accurate account of data while avoiding driving risks. That is why we decided to create a Night Mode function for the Switchboard ELD. We want our users to feel comfortable safe when logging their HOS on the road at night.
How to Use Night Mode on Your ELD
When using the Switchboard ELD to log your hours of service at night, you can use the Night Mode feature to adjust the brightness and darken the background of the screen. Simply follow the steps below:
- When your vehicle is in motion, a clock will appear on the screen displaying the remaining drive time. Tap the icon at the bottom right of the screen.
- After selecting the icon, the ELD background will become darker. This makes it easier for drivers to see the screen and record their HOS. To turn of Night Mode, simply tap the icon at the bottom right again.
With the Night Mode feature, our users can limit the strain inflicted on their eyes typically caused by night driving. On top of that, the Night mode feature prevents drivers from having their eyes re-adjust from a bright screen to a dimly lit road, which can be a safety hazard. Comfortably use your GPS navigation, log your HOS, and stay on top of your data at all times with the Night Mode equipped Switchboard ELD.
